Happy New Year!

hny

It's time to look back thankfully on what we've achieved this year and ahead of us with hope and determination. I have some toughts I wanted to share with you, but I won't write novels, because I know you're busy with the New Year's Eve preparations.

I want to start to thank you all for being The Shoe Dictionary readers and supporters. I guess everyone says at a point that they have the greatest readers, but I mean it! Ever since I began 5 months ago, your feedback gave me confidence and ideas for new articles that you would be interested in. So thank you for all of that!

Thank you for having offered me the support I needed, a nice word or two and criticism, equally. I hope I haven't dissapointed you and I promise that I will continue to write with the same passion and determination intriguing articles, reviews or interviews.

I hope you have a great fulfilling year and I hope that everything will turn out just as you plan it, or even better! I hope we grow together learning to be more serene, more understanding and wiser. I hope we will overcome gracefully all the not-so-perfect aspects of our lives and learn to focus more on what we enjoy and love!

Have a wonderful party tonight and shine all the way, my beautiful friend!

Shoe dilemma of the day: Louboutin Pigalle in denim

In between the best of 2010 tops that are circulating on most of the websites, the resolution lists, the "what I've learned" gratitude thoughts and the New Year's Eve plans - all of which are very useful and fulfilling, of course - I think we should also do some mind stretching by focusing on some more "easy" things, like shoes, for example.

Today I have for you a more casual version of the Louboutin Pigalle studded pumps. They're made of denim, a rather over-rated fabric and much too often used, if you ask me.

I remember that, as a young student, I was told in class the story of denim: how it was created for the use of cowboys as they needed a fabric which was strong enough and which could be dragged into mud and still keep those men protected from the cows and the horrors of nature. I guess I was brainwashed at that tender age because I have never been a fan of denim. Everytime I think of denim I instantly think of muddy cowboys. I don't really understand why some people wear jeans in summer time, for example. Or why some designers decided that this was the right fabric to be used for bags or hats or whatever. It's a personal choice, after all, and I can respect that.

Now, retournons a  nos mouttons, our Louboutins. Usually, I don't like denim shoes. At all! The studded Pigalle pumps have been a hit. I'm absolutely mad about them. They've got attitude, due to the studds, but they are also oh so feminine because of the deep cut, the stiletto heel and the pointy toe. A perfect combination!  They have been taken to red carpets worldwide, every celebrity owns them and every regular gal like myself is dreaming of them. But Pigalle in denim? I'm not convinced, I don't know if I even like them, let alone if I would wear them. My childhood memories are somehow pushing back the love for Louboutins, in any shape or fabric.

So I need your help. What do you think? Do you like them in denim? Good, bad or meah?

P.S. Happy last minute shopping for the party outfits, good luck with your lists of any kind and have some great last 3 days of the year! :-)

The SALES are on!

The long awaited moment that had everyone dreaming and saving up since last season is here: the sales are on!

The first to start this magical season - dreamland for all women with regular incomes who crave for designer pieces - are always the online shops.

First up, Net-a-porter. You can shop their designer shoes selection here. There are some deals that you will be thankful for all your life, maybe your grandsons too, one day. For example, these McQueens with golden angel wings at €614.54 (used to be €877.92 ) or the Tory Burch lace up boots at €276.50 (used to be €395).

My Theresa is also having a sale. You can shop their designer shoe collection here. My pick from their rather scarce selection? The Miu Mius, of course, at 279,00 euro.

LuisaViaRoma is also one of the most important online designer stores to take on the sales trend. Their shoe selection is very complete and includes a lot of important names. You can see and shop it here. I would choose the Briant Atwood sky print flat boots with 70% off or the Dolce and Gabbana wellington leopard print boots with 30% off.

Unique-way, the online store selling products from several other online stores, which has recently started an agressive advertising campaign through bloggers like Chiara Ferragni from The Blonde Salad, are having a sale too. You can see and shop the shoe selection here. My pick would be the Charlotte Olympia mint green snakeskin pumps at about 200 euro.

My favourite online shop with a HUGE selection of discounted shoes? It has got to be Asos.com. It's hard to pick a favourite, but I would definitely go for the Sam Edelman wegdes at €149.99 and the Asos Alesha booties at €44.87.

Of course you have to hurry if you still want to find your size for all those dream shoes at such accessible prices. Good luck and happy shopping!

I will be updating this post as soon as I find new deals.
